Department of English

The Department of English is one of the largest departments in the Sub-Campus Gomal University, Tank. Currently, it offers BS English programme. The department also intends to launch MS/MPhil programme in near future. The curriculum of the mentioned programme has been designed following new trends and developments in the discipline of English. Hence the curriculum is challenging, interesting, and intellectually stimulating. In other words, the curriculum is meant for rigorous training in the field of English providing students with a sound theoretical knowledge harmonized with hands on practice in the form of exhaustive activities carried out during the study. The department holds a vibrant outlook with highly skilled, qualified, and self-motivated faculty. It is noteworthy that the department keeps itself abreast of academic and pedagogical requirements through its various programmes by being in line with the HEC policies. Besides promoting the literary and linguistic skills of its own students, the department caters for the needs of other departments of the campus by offering interdisciplinary courses, e.g. Communication Skills, hence, it maintains close ties with other departments.

Welcome to the Department of English. The department of English is the growing and dynamic department at Sub-Campus University, Tank. The department has got young but well-qualified and committed faculty, equipped with the latest and innovative approaches to teaching and with fields of expertise ranging from Anglo-Saxon and Mediaeval Literature, to Modern and Postmodern British and American literature. The department focuses to instill the students with sound, authentic, practical and research-oriented knowledge of English Literature and Linguistics to uplift the standard of students. We take equal pride in instilling in our students a core commitment to work for the common good, and a conviction in the equal dignity and worth of each human being, which should be the hallmark of a humanities education, especially at an institution enlivened by its Islamic heritage. Let me here mention the contribution of our administration and office staff. Nothing would be possible without the support we receive from our administration and office staff, who are always available to make sure that everything we do runs smoothly and reliably. Why study English?

The most important aspect of computer science is problem solving, an essential skill for life. Students study the design, development and analysis of software and hardware used to solve problems in a variety of business, scientific and social contexts. Because computers solve problems to serve people, there is a significant human side to computer science as well.

Job Opportunities

A Zoology graduate can join and further excel in diverse professions. The graduates have options to adopt the following professions:
a) Teaching: Teaching in Universities/Colleges/Higher Secondary Schools.
b) Research: Researchers at numerous public/private sector research organizations such as Pakistan Agriculture Research Council, life sciences based institutes of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission etc.
c) Researchers-cum-administrator: In public/private sector such as Provincial Fisheries Departments, Health Departments, Livestock Departments and Pest Control industry etc.

F.A/F.Sc or Equivalent qualification with atleast 2nd division.
